Default 19th Century Scorecards

Posted By: Joe_G.

Anyone here collect 19th century scorecards? I've been looking for them for a little over a year and have picked up a few but I'm not aware of any "big time" collectors that have accumulated many. I'd love to learn more about them beyond what I've noticed. Any of the usual suspects here able to give good perspective on 19th century programs? Or perhaps offer contacts who have collected them for some time?

And by all means, feel free to spruce up this thread and share pics of any you might have. Especially those with color lithography, interesting advertising, notable players or games.

Thanks & Best Regards,
Joe Gonsowski

The back of this scorecard features line-ups of a Boston Old-Timers Game between the 1891 Boston team and players from Boston teams of the 1880's............

I've handled a large number of 19th century scorecards over the years, and used to collect them. If you have a specific question, I'll try to answer it.

Here's a real colorful one (circa 1880's) with unmarked scoreboxes on the back.

Ted's is colorful but is perhaps the most common 19th century one. A large hoard was found about twenty years ago and nearly all of them were Near Mint. It's part of a set of 4. The players are wearing 1870's style uniforms but my guess is they are a little later.
