Default 1985 Topps Trade Prototypes

Now that the auction is over, any thoughts on the group of prototypes that sold in the recent Goldin auction?

https://goldinauctions.com/LotDetail...entoryid=17022

The SCD article about them provided a little more detail. One partial set was in a box labeled "Acme Varnished" and the other in a box labeled "Fuchs Varnished".

The Acme group had 117 cards. The Fuchs group had 100. I'm guessing that the remaining cards in each set may have been given away at some point. Has anyone ever seen one of these?

I read the article in SCD. The consignor apparently got them as part of a large stash from an ex Topps person. All I know is what was in the article. Decided not to pursue them but they may be unique

Those backs sure do pop! Seems most are off-centered.

Yes, almost all of them are off-center. The first batch of 100 is on ebay. Hoping I might be able to keep the rest.

Shame it had to be the traded set, not a ton for the PC collectors in that set. There are a few that should bring in some good money for you still.

I will probably try for a example as I have a soft spot for the 85 set.
