Default Boxer cabinet card

Just wanted to share a pic of a boxer cabinet card.
Photographer was Jefferson Beardsley, Ithaca, NY.
Any chance of identifying the subject?

Just a wag (wild ass guess), but I would guess a young John L. Sullivan.

Default Not Sullivan

Hi Jimmy. Cool Cabinet. I don't know who it is, but I'm sure that it's not John L. Sullivan.

Hi Jimmy, Nice cabinet. I agree its not John L. Sullivan. Your cabinet depicts John Donaldson. Here is some info. on him: http://cyberboxingzone.com/boxing/JohnDonaldson.htm

Thanks Aaron!
You sure do know your boxing!

It looks like the picture you posted matches the cabinet card.
Is that a book illustration?

You're welcome, it came from the book "Portrait Gallery of Pugilists of America and their Contemporaries", by former lightweight champion Billy Edwards. It has some nice illustrations and you can view the book here: http://digital.library.villanova.edu...iana-00007.xml
