Default New Rival for Ebay??

There was a small story about this company in Sports Collectors Daily during the Natl Conv. The story had stated that the company was in development for two years.
I have no connection with this company but thought you guys might want to view their video and comment.

Check this out -

I'm assuming all my listings will be accompanied by a slideshow timed to rousing background music.

The question will always be- "IS there enough traffic to do real auctions?" There are quite a few sites to list cards on for free. (only paying when sold or a tiny fee anyway etc....) Unfortunately ebay has the most traffic by a long shot. If this new venture has a ton of marketing money they might have a go of it. I would say it's a long shot at best.

I totally agree Leon but with the discontent for ebay among collectors maybe this place can succeed.
Like you said though, they have to market it like crazy and also get lucky.

Looks like this is being geared towards cards only? Or is that just all that the developers had on hand for their example pages and intro montage?

I believe it is cards, autographs and memorabilia.

There's also Bidstart, which started as stampwants.com. The people who started it were tired of ebay and wanted a competitor.

They've made some serious progress at it on the stamps department, and apparently have a system that allows direct import of Ebay listings including having an item on both sites amd automatically removing it from one when it sells on the other.

The card section is growing, but very weak on vintage. I haven't spent much time checking out other sports stuff.

I've bought a few stamps there, and the process is very smooth.
