Default The ultimate Bill Virdon tribute thread

I'm a big fan of (now 87 year old) Bill Virdon.

He has so many neat cards (and memoribilia) as both a player and manager (like this 1961 Topps). Let's keep it going!

This is not my copy of the card, but his 1956 Topps is one of my favorites in the set. Love the fly out image

I love the pink framed '59s. Here is BV. I have a signed card of him put up somewhere but it's not scanned.

As I posted in the past; when Dr. Beckett sued CPU for "plagiarism" of prices, the 1963 Bill Virdon card was one of the key examples which showed how CPU copied the schematic of Beckett pricing. Dr. Beckett had Virdon as a premium card each year of his career except for 1963 and sure enough CPU did the same thing. That card's pricing was sufficient evidence

Default Rare 1959 Venezuelan

Just purchased this (don't even have it hand yet), but figured it fit well here. You've seen the regular Topps - here is the much scarcer Venezuelan version.

Great pictures Jeff. Was that second one taken at Wrigley or Forbes Field? Didn't Forbes have ivy? Thought I remember that from seeing Maz's HR.

It is not Forbes Field. There were no seats behind the left and center field walls.

Default 2nd Photo

I believe that is Wrigley.
I think the doors are still there.

Edit to add: Just pulled the photo to look at the news tag on the back, 5/16/1959 @ Wrigley Field.

Mr. Virdon is an awesome pen pal btw. I have sent him numerous items over the years to sign and he has always been very gracious.
