From Derek's latest auction, I snagged one more to get my MN up to 498.9. My pace has slowed to a crawl. Here is a bit of unsolicited advice to all of you collectors towards the bottom of Frank's list. Do not do what I did. I banged out all of the Commons, Southern Leaguers and third tier HOF guys first. I am stuck with increasingly Bigger Dawgs from here on out. The card cash cache stays on life support.

The latest purchase:

475. Joe Tinker (Bat On Shoulder) POLAR BEAR

For the past 15 years I have been strictly an autograph collector. I have an autograph of every player who has debuted in major league baseball from 1946 to 2014 other than 4 players who debuted in 2014, who I should get in spring training. Thats 69 years in a row and 10,627 different players.

Well after seeing all the great cards people post on this site, it has turned me in to a vintage card lover. I have decided in 2015 I am going to tackle the monster.

So far this month I have picked up 25, so put me at 25.

Going to try to collect all in SGC slabs, and starting off with the commons.

Looking forward to the challenge and learning more about the history of this set and its players.

Hi Frank,

I picked up two more T206 cards recently, including a Rube Oldring double name.

Please bump my Monster Number up to 71.

Best regards and Happy Holidays,

Eric

I must have been a good boy this year because Santa was good to me and brought me 3 more nicely slabbed specimens pushing my total to 6.

Frank, thanks for your efforts.

Frank: I forgot that I posted on this thread! My last entry was 15 months ago when I checked in at 152. Please update my number now to 370!

As you can see from this picture, I am collecting the set "raw" and in 15 pocket sheets. I purchased a reprint set, and when I get an original, I replace the reprint. I would recommend this way of collecting the set, as sometimes I need to compare a picture with a "for sale" card to make sure I need it

Looks like I am buying just over 15 cards a month which I know will slow down at this stage of the quest. 35 plastic pages hold the set and the most original cards I have on one page is 14 (3 times) and the least amount of original cards on one page is 8 (5 times).

32 cards have been "cracked" out of slabs:
PSA A (one card)
PSA 1 (four cards)
PSA 1.5 (one card)
SGC A (six cards)
SGC 10 (twelve cards)
SGC 20 (five cards)
SGC 30 (three cards)

I have 26 HOF cards
20 Southern Leaguers
20 different backs with the "rarest" being Piedmont 350-460 factory 42 (I may have a Sovereign 350 apple green but I haven't quite figured that one out yet)
Here is a page holding 14 original cards, any guess which card is the reprint?

Hey, Frank !!!

What the heck:

Set 1 -- 517/520

Set 2 -- 510/516

There was a little girl.
That had a little curl.
In the middle of her forehead.
When she was good.
She was terribly good.
But when she was bad

Old joke, my mother told me 40-45 years ago.

88 now. I just ordered another display case and will still have 8 cards that won't be being displayed. I feel like that will be half the issue as much as finding and buying the cards haha. Displaying them. 2 cases holding 80 cards between the two now.

So I thought I was at 500 but miscalculated. Just picked up a Tinker portrait and Keeler batting so I have finally cracked the 500 mark at 501. End in sight but all Hall of Famers left. Slow going from here.

Hi Frank It's been three months since I've sent an update, and have added thirty-seven more T206 cards. With the addition of these awaiting their "crack-out" procedure, Wild Bill Donovan portrait, Addie Joss portrait, and John McGraw (glove at hip), my number is now 407.

Default Made it--

Finally completed my quest [518]
with the acquisition of the Elberfeld, Washington, portrait; thanks Larry.

I was in no rush to get it--been at 517 for more than a year--because one of my principles is to get a card at a decent price. But even more, I've enjoyed the pursuit--getting there--so much that I didn't want it to be over!

Fortunately for me, it's not over, as I'm in the continual process of upgrading and diversifying my collection, which I also enjoy very much, especially as it keeps me in the T206 market, to which I am addicted daily.

Happy collecting,

Doug
