Default Trick question

He actually replaced Ping Bodie but in Center. At least that is where he played first when he started with the Yankees in 1920.

Hey Rich

You are the Trivia King tonite. George Halas was a rookie in 1919 playing RF for the NY Yankees.

Explain why you say George Halas is "the incorrect answer" ?

Halas only played 12 games for the Yankees and hit .091. The last game he played for the Yankees was July 5, 1919. It is a stretch going from the 62nd game of 1919 to the 1st game of 1920.

Yes, one might consider it a "stretch"....for we know Ruth directly replaced Sammy Vick in the RF position in 1920.

Nevertheless, George Halas did play RF for the Yankees in 1919. He was a "promising star"; however, his hip injury prevented from finishing the season.

Therefore, he went on to have a HOF career in the NFL as a Chicago Bears player, Coach, and Front Office man until 1983.
