And, in an observation that is sure to blow a few minds, the only time I ever saw a sign for a political candidate on his property, they were local Democrats. I don't say that to inject politics into yet another thread here, but to point out that there is a depth and complexity to the man that may not have come across in his music.
Was that pre-08? Still, if he thought the local guys/people were good, I can understand him supporting them. Both sides have their undesirables (especially Federally) but some of the locals, and depending on the size of the community, can be more caring and understanding of local concerns.

Toby Keith left the Democratic party in 2008.

In October 2008, Keith told CMT that he had left the Democratic Party and he re-registered as an independent. "My party that I've been affiliated with all these years doesn't stand for anything that I stand for anymore", he said. "They've lost any sensibility that they had, and they've allowed all the kooks in.

I thought Steven Colbert gave a great tribute to Toby Keith the other night on his show. I will link it below.

At the end of the day it's about Human connection. Something that is sadly becoming lost as the years go by. I knew a few of Toby Keith's songs, mostly from hearing them in bars. I can't say I listened to him frequently, but cancer sucks and I'm sorry that another person was taken by it.

No. More recent than that. To be sure, Oklahoma Democrats are centrists and have a fair amount in common with the country club Republicans. Also, I never recall having seen any political signs on Keith's property for either state-wide or national candidates.
