Default WTB baseball books and Western Canada

Looking for the following baseball books

Dust jacket only

Cobb, Busting Em
McGraw, My Thirty Years in Baseball
Claudy, Battle of Baseball
Mathewson, Won in the Ninth
Mathewson, catcher Craig, First Base Faulkner, Dodd Mead editions
Scott, Third Base Thatcher Dodd Mead
Barbour, Purple Pennant, Lucky Seventh, For Yardley, others
Heyliger, Fighting for Fairview, others
Chance, Bride and the Pennant
Hayley Williams, Johnson of Lansing. Winning Hit, others
Charnley Secrets of baseball told by big league players
How to play baseball by the greatest baseball players,
Evers, Touching Second
Beaumont, Hearts and the Diamond
Asenback, Humor among the Minors

Book

PFeiffer, Scientific Baseball

Please browse through Sports Book Covers https://www.flickr.com/photos/127734199@N02 on Flickr. If you have a book or dust jacket that I don't have there, I am likely interested (rarer titles. I have many common books still to scan)

I'm also interested in any pre-1970 Western Canada baseball ephemera: photos, scorecards, trophies, programs, etc. Vancouver peanut and popcorn cards.

I have high quality doubles to trade (Roff, Spalding, Spink, Palmer, Johnson Who's Who in DJ, etc), as well as some baseball cards (Gypsy Queen, very fine W400 of Doc White and others).

Just to see if anyone reads this, I also have a large Toronto Maple Leafs 1926 panorama with Hubbell and Lionel Conarcher . Not willing to sell, but will trade in the right circumstances.

Hey Max, hope all is well!! Quick question: did Matty's book "Won in the Ninth" ever come with a dust jacket??? I've never seen one (and if you have a pic I would love to see it)

Just curious.

Greg

I am almost certain Won in the Ninth did come with a dust jacket. I have dozens of books with similar paste on covers for which I have dust jackets or seen copies. Dust jackets were the norm by 1900, but most were tossed away and not considered collectible.

I've been looking for 20+ years for Matty with no luck. For a book that is common, that is strange. However, last year I found a first for Pitching in the Pinch Putnam, which many said didn't exist, so I have hope eternal.

And the Guelph photo has found a good home 🇨🇦🇨🇦😀

Gotcha!! I was able to pick up a near pristine copy (w/o dust cover naturally) of Won In The Ninth on eBay recently, even still has the gold lettering of the title on the spine (I hadn't seen that in the other copies I owned).

Good to hear from ya.

Greg

Interesting on the gold lettering. The copies I have (and yes, I do have multiple copies! ) have black lettering. I'll check and see if any have gold remnants.

NY Book Co also did a reprint of this book, with the boards being a beige color.

Quarterly bump. Hopefully there are some new members out there with older baseball books, or old collectors that have looked in their closet
