Default Al Worthington

I have been sending TTM requests for about 5 years now.Mostly '50's to '80's guys.
About 3 years ago I sent a request to Al Worthington,a pitcher from the '50's and '60's.
Today I received a signed copy of his book "I played and I won", along with a letter saying he was sorry it took so long answering my request.I hear all kinds of stories how guys don't want to sign,or charge an outrageous amount of money for there signature, here's a guy that
sends me a book because he felt bad it took so long to answer my autograph request.
Al Worthington is a class act!

Al Worthington is a good guy. The cult collectible in Twins country used to be 1965 Twins so I have had the chance to see / meet him a couple of times in the past. Seemed like a nice guy.

50's and 60's guys are amazingly kind. I'm working on some 80's sets and about 1 in 20-25 will return a short note or their own custom with the card I send. (I hardly ever send more than one card) The older guys were on a whole different level. Many would respond with a short note or more. I remember I sent a 58' Topps to Daryl Spencer and he responded that the card must have been damaged in transit (was probably a poor condition card in the first place) and sent me a 56-57-New 58-59-60-61-62-and 63 signed Topps.

I wrote to him a few years ago and he sent a few extra signed photos, newspaper clippings, and a signed pamphlet. You can tell he truly appreciates it when baseball fans contact him.
