Default O/T: Can You Name The Members of the Baseball Hall of Fame?

Hello,

I found this to be a very fun game for all of those who "think" they know the Hall of Famers. I finally got all of them on the fifth try. Let me know how you do!

I've played this game before and forgot all about it!
Got 80 names, or about 1/3 before I got stuck.

I got 118 but was more upset over the ones I missed. I went through the Yankee line up and forgot DiMaggio too. Missed too many easy ones.

I also don't understand why I didn't get credit for Wright, despite both Harry and George.

I guess you can play again. Might try it later.

Peter- 183 makes you a Super Chief, or something like that. I was doing well for 15 minutes and then started getting blocks. At one point I was running through the Old Judge and T206 sets, then all the Topps sets, alphabetically, and still missed easy ones.

Well, after a few tries I did memorize all 253 Perhaps they consider the Wright's executives or managers only? All managers and executives are not included.

James- I don't know how you can get them all, that's almost impossible. Once you get down to say the last five, how do you come up with those names?

And while Harry was mostly an executive, I assumed George got in primarily for his playing career. They also wouldn't accept Mack or McGraw.

Barry,

As a writer for H&S, I see so many cards that come through all the time, that perhaps it's just second nature? Perhaps I just have a good memory? I got all 195 countries and was able to point them out on a map too. I dunno, maybe I'm just a baseball nut

I think I do. My best friend called and tried to get me on that "Stump the Schawb" show on ESPN years ago. He called me "Rain Man with social skills" Now, if only I could remember my wife's birthday and anniversary. I think they're in June or July or something.

I was surprised that I got 123. I got credit for some that I wouldn't have come up with just due to typing some of the others - Kell for example.

I missed some real obvious ones from post war era and only got the Negro leaguers if their last name matched someone else I knew. Collecting HOFers from Goudey, E103, E107, and N300 helped a lot as well as starting to collect the 500+ HR and 3000+ hit guys. I was left missing people like Nolan Ryan though.

Some were frustrating that it wouldn't take, but I guess the managers were not included.

I'm embarassed to say that I almost missed Cobb, Mays and Aaron, but got them in under the wire. Way too many easy ones were left out there.

Brian- I too got Kell as I was typing Kelly. I threw Smith out there and got two- just took a shot and it worked.

132, but when they flashed the names I didn't get at the end, I felt like a dimwit. Lots of obvious names.

My strategy was to get 19th century guys first, then Negro Leaguers, then other obscure players. After that I went team by team and finished by storming through the 1980s-2000 classes. I like to go class by class. I will try it again and see if I repeat

I'm not sure I believe half of the scores posted here....I think it might be like when men tell their height in a personals ad...

I got 92. At least 50 of the ones I missed were forehead slappers...and I typed in a bunch of guys who belong in there, but are being snubbed for obvious reasons.

Rob- I was 20 for 20 in 3 minutes 50 seconds....although I called triangle guy triangle boy but still got credit.

Also wanted to add that George's gym teacher called him cant-stand-zha, but the quiz is looking for can't-stand-you. It took me about six tries until it finally registered.

That's funny. I called him triangle boy, too.

I didn't get "mimbo." And even though I knew "Bizzaro Jerry," I just didn't realize that's what they were looking for.

Edited to add: I really am 6 feet 3.

As a 9 foot 7 widower who is looking for a woman who likes long walks on the beach and Jai alai it kinda bums me out that you would say that.

Default This is a great game...

I have worked on it over and over for several weeks until I had it memorized in subgroups, and can type them all in in under 9 minutes....a fantastic website.

I wish I had thought to name one of my boys "Bullet"

I think this is the second time this game has made the rounds on this board. I finally broke down and tried it, expecting to do horribly. I figured 100 would be respectable, and struggled in the dieing (sp?) minutes to get 102 (103 if you count that I have no idea how to spell Yaz...).

I wonder if there's a game that goes the opposite way -- given a list of 1000 or so names, can you correctly identify which ones are in the HOF?
