Default Scientific Batting Practice Arcade Game

Posted By: Ben

I'm looking for any information you guys can provide me regarding this Scientific Batting Practice Arcade Game. What year was it produced? Also, as you can see several of the baseball figures are in need or repair. Does anyone know where this repair work can be done and how expensive it would be? Thanks in advance.

Hi Ben,
Marvin Yagoda's brilliant and extensive pinball website [ http://marvin3m.com/ ] has it as
a 1941 manufacture, although we've also seen it (sorry, can't recall the source) dated to 1939.
Here's the page for it at Marvin's:

Not to shill for Marvin, but if you're in the southern Michigan - northern Ohio area,
he'll do repair work. A web search should find someone in your geographic area
who does repair/restoration.

Here are a couple of other games made by Keeney, which are quite similar to yours. I have played Texas Leaguer, and it was really fun - and it only cost $50.00 (new!)

I just completed a ground up restoration on the game and it is not that complex a machine so restoration or repair should not be all that expensive. Your machine is in really amazing original condition (take care of the inside curtains -rarely seen) and clearly worthy of being repaired, don't let it go to the arcade machine graveyard!

The men are being reproduced (sadly in chrome and EXPENSIVE - you will have to paint them, I did it and have no artistic talent and they came out great) and can be obtained from Gameroom Warehouse (the one in Kansas not PA). They are not cheap but the old hard rubber just deconposed over 67 years since they were made, go figure.

Your graphics are not perfect but they are original and I'd just touch up the cabinet and not repaint (really!!). Your marquee and scoreglass (plastic) look good too. I just had to re-create the scoreboard (40 or 50 hours on Photoshop) because the re-pop out there looks nothing like the original, I've gotta do the marquee next but at least the re-pop for that is close.

Fix that bad boy up. It's one of the best ever and you've got a real sweet machine to start with.
