Default Fantasy Vintage Card; Here is the 1st one

I really like the design of the ca. 1930 Exhibit movie set with the Jim Thorpe card and decided to make some of my own fantasy Exhibit cards with this design. I chose Connie Mack as the first one. Here goes:

As time permits and source materials are found, I will do some more. Next up will be Lefty O'Doul fielding, which we never see.

i realize this is a prewar board, and most of these are from the 50's, but i figured y'all would enjoy em regardless (the '58 Herrera is great):

Wow!

What a great thread!!

Unfortunately... I will now go through the rest of my life saying to myself:

"I know I saw a T206 Joe Jackson card somewhere! Where was that?"

This just goes to prove that with photoshop anything is possible. Kinda scary when you think of ebay and bidders who have no idea what they could be bidding on.

How fun would that be to have listed several of these for sale on ebay on April Fools day. Just to see the bids and to have fun with all the emails would have been priceless!!

Your T206 Joe Jackson, Phila. Amer. is obviously a fake. He is actually pictured with the New Orleans team in the T206 set.

One of my all time favorites. Seen often on Ebay, typically in estate auctions.

My scan viewer conks out after about an hour--but that was the first time it's ever been replaced by little pictures of frogs saying "rent this space," or "you don't get to see anything here." Anway, better copy the thread before the great pics all disappear again!

Will, you certainly should be professionally involved in making baseball cards (except--look at the junk that comes out these days). I suppose all those designs are firmly copyrighted, so you wouldn;'t be able to sell them,. virtually or really?

When i first looked at the '51 Bowman Robinson, I thought--so what's different? Then i realized--you can see his face! Quibble: Joe Jackson's T206 is a bit too red in the face.

Great stuff!

who enjoyed the scans. as much as i would love to take credit for making these cards, i can't. a collector by the name of Keith Conforti made them. he deserves the credit. if you would like to see any specific "cards that never were," let me know. i will get in touch with him and see if he can create a few new ones.

a few more i found (the first few are Keith's, the T3's came from Mike Wheat's website

this string proves that the contentions of some folks to the contrary in other strings, we are a bunch of nerds. Not that there's anything wrong with that, speaking as one of the more vocal and active of the dipsticks

Wonderful site. As a collector of mid-50s Topps sets, I cringed when seeing the Musial 56 as it was one star card that never made it. The holy grail of virtual cards for me, however, would be a 55 Mantle.
