Trevor Bauer

On its face, sounds like there was a rush to judgment. Wonder if he makes it back to the US soon. |

Rush to judgement to say the least, the accuser's own phone evidence proved she was lying. As I recall it, a majority in the last thread on this didn't care because it's more convenient to an agenda that he be guilty, the facts and evidence (or complete lack thereof) be damned.

He is also not liked by many people for his out spoken nice and his abrasive attitude.
So when this occurred it made it easy for him to be found 100% guilty. What this means for his mlb future unsure. But I think many teams would avoid him and his baggage and this will still be baggage to many

This guy is a dirtbag (independent of the fact that he likes to beat up women) and is widely hated in the MLB by fans and players alike. Like Wander Franco, his MLB career is over.

MLB more than any other sport is trying to present a clean family product. Their stance on PED, domestic violence, onfield tobacco use, etc. really makes the Bauer case fall into that narrative. I personally think the gambling affiliations will muddy those efforts. But I don't believe Bauer or Franco will be back in MLB for the next 3-5 years, if ever.
He might be vindicated in the eyes of the courts, but he is not vindicated within MLB who are trying to integrate women coaches and front office staff. They are getting their own baseball cards. The two narratives existing side by side would be problematic. Personally, IMO, this just plays in with the 100+ year history of the sport. Owners have always wanted an outward appearance of clean, wholesome sport. And they get upset when their desires are muddied by average human beings.

There are other accusations from other women. At the very least, he's still a scumbag who enjoys subjecting women to graphic violence during sex, consensual or not.
Good riddance. |

Yeah. People are free to do what they want and lots of people have weird tastes. Teams are also free to say when there’s pictures of bruised women involved we’re going to take a hard pass. Can’t blame them too much.

be interesting to see if he sure MLB or the Dodgers to try and recoup the nearly $37 million he lost from the suspension.
Just curious what evidence did they use to suspend him for that long when everything Bauer has put out from the videos to the texts show his lack of guilt of this. also what position does the Players association if any have on this

From what I'm reading, Trevor Bauer was the victim.
He chose not to negotiate with the (proverbial) terrorist and paid the price. While private employers like the Dodgers can hire or fire whomever they like, I'm not sure the outcome for Bauer (even if he was a douchebag and disliked by his teammates) is fair. |

Like with Kobe, we know he settled out of court, so he obvious was guilty. So we know Kobe Bryant was a scumbag. But just curious if you know of any of the outcomes with Bauer. |

One time and he might be a victim but 4 times leads to a pattern of behavior and the three are not yet known the outcome.
Be interesting to see what happens to his future as others like Deshaun Watson is more extreme with over 20 incidents and yet he has a fully guaranteed contract and is back playing in the NFL

Settling in court does not mean one is guilty; it perhaps means one thinks it easier and cheaper or one is guilty or one thinks they will not get a fair trial or one does not trust some random people to figure out the actual truth. In a climate in which #beleivewomen or #believeallwomen is a popular slogan, I'd probably settle too. The truth does not always beat mass delusion and stupidity, especially when that stupidity is tribally popular.
Being accused multiple times also does not make one guilty. You can find 4 people who will allege almost anything about an unpopular famous person. That does not make it true. Perhaps Bauer is guilty of something, but he is very obviously innocent in the case that has gone somewhere. Where is the evidence he is guilty? We are all perfectly capable of applying an evidentiary standard when it is not controversial or convenient to an agenda. Only when it doesn't serve the agenda is it ignored. It is sad that we as a people clearly care more about ruining people we have decided not to like than actual evidence, justice, or even basic common sense. Not everyone I don't like is guilty of whatever bad thing is said about them. |

Just like I stated earlier, his story appears to be anti-feminist, and is in opposition of the narrative MLB is trying to create that their league is welcoming to women. The consequences being handed out to Bauer, Franco, Urias, and others will decide how invested in this narrative MLB actually is. Sent from my SM-G9900 using Tapatalk
