APBA baseball game. I was fortunate to live within 1/2 hr. where they made them. Couldn't wait for the new cards to come out every year. My neighbors and I used to have a draft and play a 162 game schedule.

When I was growing up you were either a Strat-O-Matic guy or an APBA one, but not both. I was a Strat-O-Matic fanatic!

Default I was a Statis Pro Baseball Guy

The game was from Avalon Hill. I too have the scoresheets from the 1981-1983 seasons. I still bring it out about once every three years in a vain attempt to get my kids interested.

Default A second Satis Pro guy

We did the '85 baseball season and the '85-'87 football seasons. I really wish I would have saved all the stat sheets. Fun memories of spending our Friday nights in my parents basement chasing the league championship. In '87 we all turned 15 and found other things to chase.

My brothers and I and our friends spent probably three seasons playing a league in which we each took a base team and then had periodic drafts of the other teams. We had the supplemental cards too, with crazy anomalies like Ken Brett being the best power hitter in the league. Never cared for Stratomatic. APBA ruled.

I was an Cadaco-Ellis Ethan Allen All-Star Baseball fan! Still have my game from around 1952-53 w/ all the discs and stat sheets from the league I played!

Note to Butch: Bought my game at a toy or Dept store (maybe 998 Broadway!) in Buffalo, NY!

I spent 2 years of my college life playing APBA in 83 and 84. The other 2 years were spent playing pool and video games.....

We used to have heated arguments over whether it was OK to play
a pitcher with a great hitters card as a position player.

One year Rod Scurry had something like 10 2's on his card. I think he was an A pitcher also that year. Terry Forster was the same way, he'd always go 2 for 3 on the season and have 15 7's. APBA rules stated you could play them in the field as the lowest rated fielder.

Now that APBA has so many deadball era seasons you can get a pretty good feel for how some of these cardboard images we collect played the game. I think they offer 1883, 1901,1905,1906,1908,1909, 1911-1919. The 1914 & 15 seasons also include the Federal League teams.
