Default Mantle auto value question

All things being te same how much more if any would you pay for a vintage style autograph from early on in his career? 50%??? More? Less? Ive seen a few lately that interest me but dont want to over pay if its something that doesnt drive the resale price higher should I ever sell. What are your thoughts? This style auto here.....

yes, there are a few factors regarding the value of a Mantle signature, IMO...as the one time lowly Mantle Collector.

The first is the substrate of the autograph. Ball, Photo, card, glove, bat. Then the type of card, the type of photo & pose, type of bat, type of ball.

I would usual pay double for a nice vintage signature on a ball let's say.
Now to the CUT. The cut is the most ridiculous thing, IMHO as there is ZERO redeeming quality in my eyes. 90% of all cuts are fake in the first place and I personally just think they are stupid.

That vintage cut is a very, very ugly one at that in that pathetic looking holder.

I'd be a player at $80.00, and the seller probably wants 2-300?

I'd PASS and keep looking. Good luck

I wouldn't go that high, but I could definitely see it selling in the mid hundreds. I had a photo signed in that style a while ago and it sat for a while, eventually selling in the mid hundreds.

The Mantle rookie style (and triple crown era) autograph definitely holds a pronounced premium over his more well known later-career/post-career autograph.

I think it also depends if you can date it. For example, a GPC from 1951 is going to set you back a few grand, easily.

I have to agree with Fudd; the cut is pretty sad looking in that holder.

I have a very nice early Mick signature that was nicely (professionally) matted and framed underneath an 8x10 photo. The signature is pretty close to that version.

I paid in the mid-hundreds for mine; all framed, and with a PSA. I was quite happy with that price, and I think it looks fantastic on the wall.

I thought the purpose of cuts was to have them framed. That's why they're cut out of album pages and documents. Not to put them in a plastic holder like a baseball card.

Now that's a BEAUTIFUL BALL signed on a side panel! Probably 1-2K that nice and clean with a salutation too! I think?

I'd love to see the entire ball to see what kind it is and the overall condition.

I would hold out for a "Mike" personalized one to go with Maris.

That was for the cut. l told him that ball without the name would be worth 4 thousand dollars. I think it is still worth 2000 or more.

Those are awesome Mike! I agree, if it was to Mike instead of "Vivian" it would be a must have at any price.
