The paper on which 33 Goudeys were printed was a sandwich of papers. This card looks like the top part of an authentic Goudey card. I'd guess it was glued down in a scrapbook, and someone hastily or ineffectively tried to remove it, maybe with soaking involved, maybe not. So I think what's there is real, but it isn't a 'paper stock' variety; instead it is the top layer of a real card.

Could this have been cut out of a notebook cover? I have seen this before in fact somewhere I have one and the back is smooth not like it came of of a scrap book. Rob

I will have to agree with Frank. It definitely looks like a skinned '33 Goudey card. I've seen a few scrapbooks in my time with only the top layer of the '33 (and '34/'36) Goudey cards pasted-on. I guess it made the books easier to close, plus you weren't going to look at the back anyways...

Lovely Day...
