Default Are cabinet photos usually this small?

I picked up the cabinet photo below a little while ago and was surprised to find out how small it was. It's just bigger than a T206. Is this uncommon? Does it help date the photo at all?

Any help appreciated.

sounds like cdv-size. Post measurements and a scan of the back.

cartes de visite, or CDVs, are miniature cabinet cards, and are collectible too. CDVs and cabinets overlapped time wise, but CDVs were more popular early on. Yours looks circa 1880s.

The back is blank. Like I said its slightly wider and taller than a T206. Really surprised at the size. Even being so small the photo is clear as day.

CDVs are a bit over 4 inches long. Measure yours and know if you have one.

I've seen small mounted photos, made like cabinets, that are slightly larger than a T206.... Not baseball images though. I saw a small stack of them at a flea market.

Dave gave you a date. His seems reasonable to me, but I would go toward the late end of the '80s.
