possibly OT: World Series Ticket stubs

Does anyone know any resources (online hopefully) for info on World Series Ticket stubs? Specifically those in the 1920s/30s. I know PSA grades them, does SGC or GAI or BGS? Are most ticket stubs graded before they are sold? Is there any guide (other than pop reports at PSA) on how tough certain stubs are?

There is no specific guide on the internet that I am aware of. I have an old Tuff Stuff vintage memorabilia guide that lists WS stubs, but it's nowhere near accurate. You can always bet that certain stubs will be far more valuable than others...ie Don Larsen's perfect game, Babe Ruth's three homer game, called shot, et cetera.

edited to say: I don't see very many graded stubs on ebay. Most often they are found being sold by sellers who have found them in scrapbooks. A very nice 1912 Boston World Series stub sold on ebay last week for $1,000 - a little low IMO.

Graded tickets. As part of my Jimmie Foxx collection, I also collect series tickets in games he participated in. I want all of them 1929-1931. 9 times out of 10, when I find a decent one it is raw. Then I have PSA slab it for me. They do a great job. Holders fit nice and snug. I have had no issues with the grades given. I did buy one once, and it was rejected. I was a bit ticked at PSA until I looked at through a magnifying glass, and found that the stub had been reattached with glue.. We all get stung occasionally. The seller died and I was out of luck. maybe some devine intervention?

there are many graded WS stubs online. just do a search on eBay for:

"world series ticket"

there was a post in the B/S/T area from "qualitycards.com", that he had variety of vintage stubs on eBay (PSA graded)...20/30's...

i have only been collecting WS stubs for about 3-4 months now, but i have aquired some important pieces (1919, 1927, ruth called shot, etc)...goto baseball-reference.com and look at the postseason page, and look at certain games, years, etc, with historical significance (Gehrig HR's, Mantle HR's, no hitters, etc...).

they are very collectable, make sure you go after games that have some importance.

Actually, the stubs that I saw on ebay are the ones listed by Qualitycards. I didn't know he had posted on the BST earlier.

I was hoping there would be a way to help determine how many still exist and pricing on these. But I guess there can't be that many WS tickets from the 50s or earlier. I guess like most things, I just need to watch some auctions to help me understand pricing. No VintageCardPrices.com for these things

World Series tickets from the 1950s are not rare. You can't really even classify WS tix from the 1930-40s as rare either. 1920s are tough, teens very tough and earlier than those are very rare.

I'd like to see some sort of guide that depicts images of each ticket, a thumbnail history of the game, and a value estimation.

Such a guide would identify the ticket designations and match them up to the games. Sometimes home game 2 with a 2 on the stub was actually the 4th game.

The most recent shuffle is the very last WS game!!! Game 1 and 2 were in Detroit, in 2006. Game 3 is in St Louis, and those stubs say game 3. Game 4 was scheduled for Wednesday night, and it was rained out. Game 5 had been set for Thursday night. MLB chose to honor game 5 tickets for game 4 that was played Thursday night (since those ticketholders had reservations and plans to be there that night in the first place), and MLB honored game 4 tickets for game 5. The Cardinals' WS winner ticket stubs have a 4 on them!!!

It would be interesting to do a master list of all WS games in Excel, kinda like the T206 super set list.... then we could let the "listmaster" know which stubs we had, and send him a scan if he needed it. I have a couple of dozen stubs. A couple of my better ones are on loan to the StL baseball museum, 1934 game 7, and 1946 game 4.

Anyone interested in working on a master list??
