Default William White First Black Baseball Player

Being that I am admirer of Jackie Robinson, I found this very interesting. If you want to listen to a short interview, click on the All Things Considered audio at the top of the page.

I pointed this out when the Wall Street Journal first reported a SABR member's findings that William White is possibley the first Black to play in the majors. This has been a hot a debate on the SABR list for awhile and concensuos seems to be that, yes, he was techincally Black, but that he was able to pass himself off as White, thus not having to endure any of the hardships that Welday and Moses Walker had to endure. A very interesting story none the less.
