Default Ok, Educate me on T-Pack's

Posted By: Nick M.

Not TuPac, but T-Packs! Why is this so expensive(below)? This pack was mine and I sold it for roughly $400. I thought I did pretty good, now it is over $2,500.

I have John's guide, it is a great help. Am I missing something here?

Regards,
Nick

The auction tells of the chance of pulling a 1912 baseball card. Even if the bidders know nothing about packs and take GAI at face value, look at the date on the GAI label (picture taken from auction description).

Looking over the description some more, the seller very clearly says the pack is from 1914 and that the T205 cards were made earlier. I can understand a newbie falling for a fake Babe Ruth signature or Mickey Mantle RC counterfeit or PRO graded card or AAA cutout, but I'd enjoy hearing the winner bidder's justification for this purchase. It might explain why he's always late for appointments,

I think this just falls into the category of someone paying too much for an item with no chance of a baseball card. Remember all those Sweet Caporals that sell $2000+ that are more 1918-1920 than 1909? Interestingly enough, however, it looks to me as that red overprint (the Honest's have a red overprint for date) says 1911? Am I reading it incorrectly? Maybe someone else thought the overprint says 1911 and GAI, in fact, dated it wrong. That being said, factory, district, and state must all match.

What I don't understand is, why isnt the pack slabbed by GAI?
If its the pre-grade asessment, wouldn't it be worth the extra $10-20 to have GAI slab it and protect it? At least you know there's no doubt that the pack is the one that they pre graded.

This pack was already reported here before:

http://www.network54.com/Forum/thread?forumid=153652&messageid=1103383546&lp=1103472745

I wouldn't bid a dollar for the pack. (Tax stamp is wrong one)
