Default Didn't see a newbie specific introduction forum, so I will introduce myself...

I wouldn't consider myself a pre-war collector per se, although I have a number of older cards. Generally speaking, I can't afford to compete in that arena, but I enjoy them. I would say I am most comfortable with the 30s-present stuff.

I am a Dodger fan and collect most things Dodger that I come across when the price is right. I was born in 1969, so I was not alive during the Brooklyn years, but have enjoyed collecting back to the beginning of the franchise. I firt got into baseball in 1978 and Steve Garvey became my favorite player, so I have amassed a fairly extensive Garvey collection. Anything Garvey is considered...for my collection.

I also like to collect signed baseball cards, photos, cuts, etc. Mostly cards though. Vintage are best.

I am also a fan of oddball issues. I find those the most interesting because you don't typically see them as often as regular pack issued cards and such.

I look forward to chatting about some of the older stuff and maybe getting (and perhaps even giving) help on some Dodger stuff! I think a thread about Dodger postcards brought me here, but I will have to get a feel for the site before I can find it again.

The name is Curt, by the way.

Thank you folks. As I said, I am not necessarily a pre-war collector, but feel more at home around that stuff than I do the brand new cards. I won't say I don't dabble in the new stuff, but it's mainly to feed my Steve Garvey collection. I started collecting in 1978 but stopped buying serious quantities of boxes/packs of cards in the early 2000s, not to mention a 5 year break (88-92) while I was in the USN.

I look forward to seeing some great old stuff, meeting some new people and maybe even getting a few trades done.

If anyone does have any Steve Garvey stuff, feel free to let me know. I have a very extensive collection, but you never know when that missing item will show up!

Thanks.

Curt

Welcome, you will soon regard this place as one of the best resources you have ever had. Lots of knowledge and expertice readily available at all times. Being a Yankee fan, i loved the days of rivalry with Garvery, Cey, Yeager, Lopes, Baker..... good memories and now you have our Donnie Baseball!!!!

Welcome Curt - nice to have another Dodger fan here. I grew up in LA and remember going to see Garvey, Cey, Lopes, etc at Dodger stadium. I even still use my old Ron Cey signature model glove when I coach my kids teams. You'll see lots of neat Dodger stuff here, but you'll have to learn to ignore the Yankees and Red Sox fans

Very nice! I don't have any T cards signed. I tried for a couple Marquard cards but always lost out. My oldest signed vintage is from the 33 Goudey set I believe.
