Default 1953 Topps Mickey Mantle Raw Review and Advice Please

Hi, I recently acquired this 1953 Topps Mantle. I have upload pictures and showed it around hobby stores and everyone says it is authentic and has not been tampered with. I am getting ready to print off the PSA submission form and would like everyone's opinion on what grades this might receive. The condition issues I see are the top edge is creased. From the front it looks more beveled, but the back shows the true crease. There is also a 3/4" "hair line crease"? in the top left from about the Yankees logo on his hat to the top of the card. I can not see it from the back. Would the centering be enough to get this card bumped past VG?

Thank you,
Chris

I am thinking a '2'. I know PSA does not like creases on the 1953 set at all, and will hammer accordingly. This was mine from not too long ago. It's main deal was a crease that you had to tip in the light to see. It got a '1'.

That might be the best PSA 1 I have ever seen. Thank you for the share.

Chris,

Great looking card and nice centering. I don't see any reason why this would not get a 4. Creases are allowed on PSA 4s and this card has exceptional eye appeal.

I am telling you. The card will get hammered if you send it to PSA because the 1953 cards are NOT usually found with creases. I have scanned a pic of a card with a crease. It graded a '1'. The card was sent in TWICE!!! Got a '1' both times!! What other kind of proof do you want? You might be better suited sending the card off to SGC. Oh by the way, with scans that small, it is really hard to give an accurate grade. The back upper right corner looks like it has been recolored on that tiny scan. A larger scan would give everyone a better idea of grade.

After looking over the card and researching more the spot I called a crease is only on the front and is maybe a wrinkle. That top edge really only shows up on the back. So maybe the centering and gloss may help this one. But I have never submitted vintage so I have no clue what to expect. Thank you all for the information.

No big deal here. Just like to make sure we keep the posts in the right sections. We have all posted in the wrong sections at least a time or two.
