Joey spent a very brief time in Spokane and I got to see him several times. Avista Stadium is a place where the ball doesn't carry well - except for Gallo. He hit a monster homer that was just unbelievable - a bomb that cleared the light pole in right field easily. And kept going. 500 feet? Maybe.

And, yeah, he struck out a lot.

Gallo's power is frightening. You couldn't pay me enough to pitch to him. I see him just whip it through the strike zone, and pray he doesn't hit one right up the middle.

I've seen Beltre play in TX, a lot, and I'm a huge fan of his. Has a good attitude, a leader, always plays hurt and never asks to be taken out. If the manager knows he's hurt and is not penciled in the lineup, he will talk his way back into it. Always seems to get the hit in clutch situations.

Plus, he seems to be a really good dad. He always brings his son(maybe 8 yrs old or so) on the field every day before any other player ever touches grass and he pitches to him for about an hr. And yes, he has dads swing.

As for the All Star appearances, I take those with a grain of salt. The way voting is a popularity contest is a bit silly. Had a monster 2004 and came in 2nd on MVP that year and no All Star selection.

if he gets 3000 hits or 500 home runs, then he will, if just short, then that will give the hall reason to keep him out. fred mcgriff syndrome.

All of the players in history that have at least 2,500 hits and 400 home runs, which Beltre currently has, is quite an impressive list. Take a look...

Aside from steroid use on some of those guys, it's fair to say they are all HoF worthy, correct?
