Default HISTORIC ca. 1909, “The Marathon Game” - Otto Burns Game Used & Baseball Collection

HISTORIC Otto Burns Game Used & Baseball Collection including game worn glove from the “The Marathon Game” when Burns was the starting winning pitcher on June 1, 1909 when the Decatur Commodores defeated the Bloomington Bloomers in 26 Innings! This game was dubbed the Marathon Game as it was the Longest professional game ever played. The historic game stood for 57 years!

Burns collection is accompanied by a Family Letter of Provenance signed by the Great Grand Son of Otto Burns

Artifacts included in this lot:

1. Otto Burns Brown Victor Sporting Full Web Front Fielders Mitt, ca. 1909 (Photomatched)

This glove is photomatched to the a picture of Burns in his Decatur uniform inside the August 16, 1939 Program from the “BURNS-FISHER NIGHT” Game commentating the LONGEST COMPLETED GAME IN ORGANIZED BASEBALL.

2. Otto Burns Game Used Athletic Spikes & Wool Baseball Socks attributed to the Decatur Commodores Base Ball Club, ca. 1909

3. ca. 1909, Original, Decatur Commodores Team Photograph and individual Player Portrait of Otto Burns

4. Personal Travel Suitcase of Otto Burns with his initials, “O.A.B”

5. August 16, 1939 Program from the “BURNS-FISHER NIGHT” Game commentating the LONGEST COMPLETED GAME IN ORGANIZED BASEBALL.

6. ca. 1895-1905, AG SPALDING BRO Double Oiled Tempered No. 150P Model 161 Professional Model Bat

7. Antique catchers mask and glove, ca. 1910-20’s

Pricing this lot is very difficult. I’m asking $5k or best offer. These items in the right medium should be in a museum either dedicated to professional baseball in Illinois, Decatur Commodores, or Baseball History! Or would make a wonderful and historic addition to any baseball collection.

Feel free to request more pictures or ask any questions.

Great collection but just an FYI , that’s far from the earliest spalding bat ever made . You might want to correct that so the buyer can’t come back to you in the future about it .
