Default 1951 Topps Ringside Book Value

Posted By: ViperVenom05

I have a complete set of the 1951 Topps Ringside boxing/wrestling set in EX-NrMT condition. I also have a wrapper from the 51 ringside cards as well in near mint condition. I know the book value was like $4,000 or so for the set 10 years - 15 years ago. I was wondering if anyone knew what theyy were worth now, and esp a price on the wrapper. Thinking of selling the set. Thanks so much for any help...

Depending on the grades of the popular cards could be in the 5000.00-6000.00 range in NRMT condition. This value really depends on the condition of the short prints

Thanks for the fast reply! Most of the key cards are nice. I can scan them if anyone is interested. Would like to sell the set, and move on to some vintage baseball card sets (51 bowman and 52 topps).

I would perfer to sell the set as is just because less hastle, but can def see your point. Here is a scan of the wrapper, maricano and murphy. The scans did not come out that good because of the smuges on the cases, but they are nice looking cards I think. If anyone is interested in the set, you can shoot me an email. Will be posting more boxing cards/items as well...

Here are some more scans of the feature cards. I am asking $3,250 for the set with the wrapper. Anyone interested can email more, or pm me, and can provide more pictures and further descriptions…

If it's not trimmed, that Tunney is sweet. Good luck with the sale.

I'll echo Adam's notion that without grading them you're leaving a boatload of money on the table.

The Tuney was not trimmed, I think the bottom might be from the scan (it was a picture taken at an angle). The murphy was the only one I actually scanned. The other cards were in thicker holders and the scanner made them come out really fuzzy. Any suggesstions on which grading company is the fastest route to go? If it doesn't sell fast, more than liekly get a few of the key ones graded as suggested...

The set itself is common enough that the registry freaks will be about the only ones who'd pay the amount you are apparently hoping to reap from the set.

I just viewed another set over the weekend that was in ex condition and the seller wanted 3000.000, just to give you an idea. Dealers were interested, but were only willing to pay about 1000.00-1200.00. When I looked there was at least some nice cards and the Murphy was solid, its just tough out there for boxing right now and the set was worth what the seller was asking. If it was graded I think more people would have jumped on it. See what the better cards grade out at and then see what happens

Hey I think the set may have been yours, but you should get that Murphy graded!

Take care and good luck Jimmy
