Default 7th Annual Network54 VBCF National Dinner RSVP thread

Yes, my fine feathered friends this is what we have all (well a lot of us) have been waiting for. I just spoke with the folks at the Embassy Suites and everything is fine for our Dinner. It will be at the Embassy Suites O'Hare Rosemont Hotel, which is across the street from the convention. It will happen on Thursday, July 31st, 2008, from 6pm until 12am. All board members THAT RSVP are welcome. I have to have rsvp's as that is how I will tell their catering how many to make food for(and pay for). The whole thing will be free to all attendees. Children, friends, and significant others are welcome but I need to have rsvp's for them too. If you think you can make it but are not sure then you can rsvp as a "maybe" because if you don't rsvp at all you probably won't be able to get in. I will need folks first and last names please. If you don't want to post in this thread you can email me at leonl@flash.net, as I will be keeping a spreadsheet of rsvp's....I will have hand written name tags just like last year and in order to get drink tickets you need to have one on....it's not a big deal but does help folks recognize each other. Dinner will be buffet style, served around 7:45, and will be a Pasta Bar or Stir fry station and accompaniments. When we took a poll previously the Pasta Bar (with chicken, shrimp and lots of veggies) was the most popular by 2 to 1 over the Stir Fry station (teriyaki beef, chicken shrimp, veggies). When you rsvp if you would be so kind as to say whether you would like the Pasta bar or stir fry station it will help in the preparation. There will also be several hors d'oeuvres. I look forward to seeing everyone there....best regards

Please count me in. I missed the last two Nationals and look forward to seeing everyone. Slight preference for stir fry. Mark

I'll be there for sure (stir fry dinner). Looking forward to seeing everyone. I hope the influential collectors don't mind being with a poor slob like me.

A tentative "maybe" from me. I have to play it by ear for now. Fine with either food option.

I will clarify a few things as we go....as I think there needs to be......

There will be BOTH types of stations, pasta and stir fry, but I do need an idea of what you want...

Hi Leon,

Count me in for the dinner that evening and mark me down for stir fry as well.

Will influential collectors be getting special name tags so us "run of the mill" collectors can easily identify them as such?

Count me in. I likely will drink more than eat, but if I eat it will be stir fry. Looking forward to it,

Andrew

Influential collectors will get bright pink name tags...very befitting of their stature in the hobby. If Jim C comes (though we probably aren't worthy enough) he will get one that looks like a PSA flip.....bar code and all

How sweet of you to get me a special nametag Leon but I will be coming for Tuesday-Wednesday and possibly beginning of Thursday but not for dinner. Heading home Thursday midday.

Leon,

The national is within 30 minutes of where I work and I would love to attend. I have never attended before and I am looking forward to this one. I am considering bringing my 21 year old son if that is ok. Pasta is my choice and I am requesting to sit at the same table as Bruce Dorskin and the rest of his associates. Oh, and I am brave enough to have Jim C tossed into the table mix. At least that would make for a interesting experience!!

Thank you so much for this opprotunity to meet all these guys I have been reading over the last 4 years!!

Edited to say I would love to meet zernial and the rest of the gus's...but i would also like to meet all of the guys (and gals) from the board as well. (geez Jodi... you are quick!!)

Unfortunately, Zernial, Suhr and Weyhing will be unable to attend, but we will all be hoisting a Busch or two in their honor.

Not me Mike--you are the T206 PSA 9 guy--you put me to shame.

No--two-plus days is enough--also have the Pawtucket Red Sox on one side of the trip and Disney World on the other.

Hi Leon,

I'll be there, and I'm about 90% certain Mike Peich will too, but he's out of town and won't see this for a while, so I'll RSVP for him. Either food option is fine.

Have my air and hotel reservations already, even got tickets for the Saturday Cubs-Pirates game, and am just counting the days until I set off for Chicago. Am looking forward to shaking some hands and checking out all them bee-yoo-tee-full vintage baseball cards.

Put me down for one pasta dinner, Leon. Muchos mahalos!

Vintage cards, scantily-clad Hawaiian maidens, uku-zillion penguins, authentic Dutch people and more at . .
