Default FYI....T206 150 Series checklist & their backs

Posted By: Ted Zanidakis

For new and old collectors of the T206 set, provided here is the entire checklist of the 1st Series cards and their available backs.
I will follow up with similar checklists for the 350 and 460 Series. Personally, I think by arranging the T206 cards with respect to
their different series lends itself to a better understanding of the front/back permutations of "The Monster".

The added benefit of this knowledge is to help the collector to avoid acquiring "fakes" that have impossible front/back combos.
As is evident in the current Joe Doyle post. An alarming number of such fakes are surfacing....and, many are being Graded.

Shown here are all the possible T206 backs that the 156 Subjects in the 1st Series were printed with.

The 5 possible 150 Subjects backs............

This Eddie Collins card only exists in proof form. Perhaps, there was a contractual dispute; therefore, it was never issued.

[linked image]

The MAGIE error was caught in an early press run and corrected, MAGEE. The MAGIE card exists only with a Piedmont 150 back.

Hope this listing helps....next, I will follow this up with the 216 cards found in the 2nd major Series (350-only).

And remember......any of these cards with backs other than the 10 shown above, are not an original (authentic) T206.

Ted,

Great checklist. This will be very helpful in my pursuit of "The Monster". Can't wait for the 350 and 460 Series checklists.

Thanks,

Ted Z.,
many thanks for this great resource which will hopefully act as a filter through which numerous questions from this forum should travel.
perhaps we can even hope that the grading companies will wisely use such a resource.

all the best,

Strange things are happening lately with Net54.....I've had double posts, also.

The other problem is....that when you edit your existing post, it comes up with double spacing and your name disappears.

LEON

You have to have your software dude correct this situation.

Leon,

Is there a way to take all of Ted's T206 back checklists posts, put them all on one thread and placed in common area? It's a wealth of information that would be nice to refer to without searching. Personally, I use it frequently.

Again, nice work Mr. Z!

Sounds like a great idea there....perhaps, you should email LEON with this suggestion.

Several Net54er's have asked me about something similar to your idea.

I have hard copies of my T206 posts, surveys, etc.....and that could present an alternative option, should Leon not
be receptive to your suggestion.

Thank you Ted for this wonderful post, as-well-as the 350 Series post. I've never seen the Collins proof before. It would've made a beautiful addition to the set.

Thanks....and I would have liked this Collins card, also.

For that matter, I wish Plank and Wagner were normally available T206's, so we could all have them in our sets.

Ted, I know I could probably extrapolate the numbers from the checklist but can you post the 150 backs with total number of subjects? i.e. I believe piedmont 150 has all 156 subjects, sovereign has 151 etc. Not sure about the sweet caporal's or hindu.

Thanks,

My mistake....should be Crawford in the throwing pose. I've already posted Crawford batting
in the 350/460 thread. And, he can't be the same in both series.

Chalk it up to a "senior moment".

Thanks,

TED Z
