1933 Goudey #63 Joe Cronin minus thumb bandage and cut on lip
I'm currently reading (actually it's mostly photo's) Baseballs Golden Age the
photographs of Charles M. Conlon. There are a lot of great photos in the book and one of them is this Joe Cronin that was used for the 1933 #63 Goudey. In the photo he has a bandage on his thumb and a cut on his lip that was eliminated on the card. img277.jpg 1933 Goudey #63 Joe Cronin.jpg |

Too bad they didn't leave the bandage and cut. It would have been a little more interesting of a card. I think there were a lot of things like these taken out before they printed the cards.

The re-touched photo ('33 Goudey) also seems to have moved the iris & pupil of his right eye.

Question
Anyone know if the original photo was mass produced on a card or postcard? It's very intriguing.
