Default Beckett Grading Question

Posted By: petecld

I'm not familiar with Beckett Grading. What is this listing talking about?

Is this just some scam? What is this "raw card grading".

Default Beckett Grading Question

Posted By: Marc S.

Beckett's services have become so many (BGS, BVG, and BCCG), that it is too confusing anymore.

It seems like the seller took the card to Beckett at Ft. Washington, and they offered a "preview grade" of what they thought the card would grade at if it was submitted to BVG. That is my take. Sort of like having one of the grading experts preview your card and give you an expected grade. Many of the companies will offer this service for free at a show -- but I have never seen it formalized with a sticker or anything...

Default Beckett Grading Question

Posted By: Jaime Leiderman

Sent a beautiful (NM in my opinion) Babe Ruth 1948 Leaf to BVG back in September.

After 2 weeks without any response, I decided to send my first email to them, asking what happened with the card I sent.
They told me they didn't have my submission in their system...?

After many email messages and calls, a BVG representative, told me that my card was sent back because they didn't have the appropiate holder size for 1948 leafs....?
So why did they advertise they were accepting those cards?

A little box arrived after a month and a half, without the card and a small piece of paper with the "old" holder size comments.

As of yet, I haven't received the card or a refund, or any kind of response to my problem.

I'm planning to sue them if they don't solve the problem!

Don't EVER send a card to them!
Hope my problem can help others.

JL

Beckett started this service in San Francisco Tri-Star show. For $5.00, they will grade and seal your card in a preview holder. You then have the option of paying to have the card slabbed or not. I have been wondering how long it would take to have this $5.00 show grading service to be actively traded.
Beckett was overwhelmed with the cards that were submitted for this service.

Well, duh! What did they expect! Hmmm...

Do I want to pay $5 and get the grade or pay $15-20 for the grade and a glorified plastic case. Big decision there huh.

Real smart marketing plan. Will do wonders for the sale of top-loaders and stickers.
