Default 1957 Topps Don Drysdale Proof?

What are your thoughts on this ebay listing?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...E:B:SS:US:1123

Is it a real proof? Has anyone seen another like it before? Wondering why he didn't choose to show the front of the card...

I have no idea about it's legitimacy. But I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the front of the card is the Jerry Snyder in the middle.

Default Drysdale

I think you are right David, but I would not bid on something I am too stupid to understand

Very likely from a salesman's sample and poorly cut at that.

Pretty harsh Al, but definitely deserved. I completely missed the fact that the pic of the front of the Jerry Snyder card was trimmed similar to the pic of the Drysdale back...guess that shows what reading too quick will do.
I don't see why anyone would pay that much, "stupid" or otherwise.

Default Not you... Me

I did not intend any disparaging remark about anyone but myself. I just said it badly. I meant that I thought David was likely right but I was not sure myself what it was and since I was not smart enough to know what it was I was not going to bid on it...even though I like weird stuff. Apologies that offense was taken. I personally admire you as a collector 4reals, and have benefited by your posts and insights on the board

No worries Al, I'm pretty laid back and held no animosity over my misinterpretation of your statement. I appreciate your kind comment and have equal respect for you. Alright, enough with the love fest...it's getting kinda creepy, lol.

I agree with Dave. I don't think any of the card numbers of the "back" cards shown on the 1957 salesman's samples are the same as the production card numbers. Here's my 1957 salesman's sample which shows the back of a Clint Courtney card with a #87 on it - in the regular production set, Courtney is #51, whereas #87 is Tom Gorman.

Default Snyder

I believe Jerry Snyder card actually pictures Ed Fitzgerald, for the record.

Hi Al,
Both of these are salesman's samples. Here is a pic of the other side of each.

Can someone who can post on PSA's board tell this guy his card is cut from a salesman's sample?
Thanks!
