Default What are some of your favorite "inexpensive" cards?

Posted By: Brian McQueen

The ever-escalating prices on cards in our hobby are always an obstacle for most collectors as we all know. A lot of times it seems that you really have to "pay through the nose" to get the cards you want. I thought I'd show off a couple cards in my collection that go against this trend and are amongst my very favorites that I own.

The Obak I really enjoy for the bright blue color, the fact that it's an 09 horizontal Obak and most importantly, Mohler is wearing a suit and hat in the photo. That's something that I don't think can be found in any other Obak.

The Duffy is really unique to me as well. Not only is he in plainsclothes, but the photo gives off the impression that he's actually at a library or somewhere completely unrelated to baseball reading that large book in front of him.

Both cards I believe could be had in today's market for under $200. The nice thing about both of these is that they provide me with reassurance that cards you will really enjoy CAN be had affordably. Sure, you'll most certainly enjoy the cards that cost you an arm and a leg as well but it's nice to see that there are some out there that are a little more attainable.

Anyone have similar cards in their collections they'd like to share?

Great post, one of my most favorite cards cost less than $50 the T210 Benny, great very funny shot. I also really like the T210 Portrait next too him, relatively cheap and still presents well.

I also not too long ago picked up an E95 of Hoffman love the fact that some kid most likely wrote “Chicago” on the chest. And the T206 below less than $10 but has a neat back in which the overstrike didn’t hide the factory I thought it was neat.

There’s still some good stuff out there, but I have to admit its getting harder and harder to find anything cheap.

I love my Speaker cards. Both are the highest graded from either company (last I checked) and have less than 5 copies graded. Picked them up for about $150 each. Yes, the Ruth is an ugly W series but it is Babe Ruth dammit.
