Default Price Range for 33 Ruth PSA 1?

I don't normally collect vintage, but I'd like to pick up a 33 Goudey Ruth. I don't trust most of the people on eBay so I will probably want to find one graded through PSA. I've been looking at the prices of the sold cards and its $700-1500 it seems. That feels like a crazy range in prices to me. There is one up now for $1500 obo I'd like, but don't want to pay full asking price. What's a good place to start on these?

Which Ruth card are you interested in buying? There are four in the set and prices vary depending on the card.

PSA 1 prices will vary more than any other grade, because a PSA 1 could mean a totally smashed card that has minimal eye appeal, but also could mean a card which presents nicely but may have some paper loss on the back.

For a smashed 1 like this one, you will be closer to $750, but a nicer 1 like this one will put you at least at $1500, and likely higher than that.

All depends on eye appeal. Some 1s like mine can be had for a good price. Some present really well for their grade and will cost more. I believe the full-body batting pose was a double print and won't go for as much as the other 3, but it's by far the best card, image wise, in my opinion.

Good examples and yes it seems the lower the grade the more subjectivity in eye appeal...
