Default Today's Estate Auction Find -Pinbacks

Posted By: Dan Bretta

My brother was at an auction today and called me up to tell me there was a box filled with pinbacks that had a few baseball. We split the box - he got all of the Pep pins -about 50 of them and I got the baseball.

Anyone know what set the Yankee pin is from?

the Yankees pin is from the American Nut and Chocolate set of 16 teams around 1950. Each box of double play candy had a pin and a small pennant along with the candy.

I have never seen the 2nd one before, but there was a find of the Cubs Junior Boosters pins. While they are vintage, they always turn up in Mint condition.

Thanks fellas....the second one has a companion piece for the Chicago Cubs. They are listed in Muchinsky's book. Can I assume it's from 1959-60? Was 1959 the only year the Sox were nicknamed the Go Go Sox? As for the Yankee pin I always thought the American Nut and Caramel pins were the same size as the Guys Potato Chip pins. This one is bigger than those. And I figured out that the Cubs Junior Booster pin must not be that hard to find with a quick ebay search. Looks like they go pretty cheaply.

The American Nut and Chocolates are bigger than Guys Potato Chips.

They are pretty common on ebay, but they are not common to my area so they must not have been distributed around here. This is the first one I have ever found.
