Default John Smoltz In Person - the art of authentication

Anyone have an in person example. TPA's authenticate his "z" looped backward OR forward. I have a "y" at the end of my name and loop forward. I can't imagine the flow of changing the loop different ways at different times. (Not that anyone cares about my auto :-). Flow seems important and and this just seems odd to me. (Some of the examples of Smoltz are even more pronounced than the two I chose below). Trying to learn the art of signing...

Not sure this helps much - here's an example from John's first public appearance in my card store in early 1989. Yours are both likely from much more recent signings but sigs do change over time.
