Default Walking the Plank? How many of these are there?

Posted By: Max Weder

Does anyone know anything about this "card"? I was excited several years ago to find one, but then they seemed to have sprung out of the woodwork like, well, as if someone was printing them yesterday (ie not 1920). Or perhaps the RAC was just very popular back then. Thanks, Max

Just for those who are too terrified to click on yet another ebay link, I have loaded the picture directly.

while this is a piece i have not seen before, the auction item appears to be totally legit, even with a signing by the secretary. i am not 100% convinced its eddie plank on the front, but appears to have an A's logo. what is the history behind the piece.

Plank was left-handed, correct? Unless the image was reversed on that piece, that picture depicts a right-handed player. Actually looks more like Frank Baker than Eddie Plank to me.

It certainly does look more like Baker. "Plank" was my first reaction, and unless he underwent a Greg Harris-like transformation, I was completely in error.

As for the thread on whoever the Rover Athletic Clubs' player is, the printing plate for this was auctioned on ebay several years ago. I presume endless memberships could thus be produced, if desired.

Since we are working our way thru the B's, how about Bender :-p

Barry does seem to be more likely.
