Default July Pick Up Thread

This mint John Scott RC is the key card to my 1977 Blue Jays set. Oh yeah... this is also the RC card of Hall-Of-Famer Andre Dawson!

I have 17 of 23. Some cards are really low pop. in PSA 9 so I'll have to see what I can find. Might have to go with a few PSA 8 cards. Thanks for taking an interest in my set!

Default Great Scott!

Was just perusing the June pickups and noticed that Jim Rice's '75 Topps rookie card also has John Scott on it. Is that the same John Scott that is on the Dawson '77 Topps rookie posted above?!

Regards,

Richard.

Regards,

There was a player from the same era that also was on one of those 4in 1 rookie cards more than once. Anyone besides me remember who?

Oddly, that streak ending dissapointed me more than the end of many on field streaks.

edited to correct a mistake, I thought he'd been on 3 years, but looked it up and I was wrong.

Wow 4 of them. I was thinking of Mickey Klutts he's on multiplayer cards in 77 and 78. I'd thought 79 as well but he wasn't. Maybe it wasn't so unusual? Always something interesting to learn about this hobby.

Been wanting an early Mantle for a long time. That makes all the HOFers in the '52 Bowman set. Hope to finish this one off soon.

I paid a little too much for this but with the help of some ebay bucks, it made the cost more reasonable. The centering on this was a winner for me.

1949 Eureka Sport Stamp Eddie Dyer, another different Carousel back and Detroit Caesars back for the Lou Brock collection, Kelly Potato chip pin, 68 Venezuelan (I've been chasing that for a long time) and Fleer WS with Kurowski and Beazley for the all time Cardinal collection.

Thanks! I basically blew the entire card budget for the next year, but it really is a stunning card for the grade.

Thanks! I hated to get rid of the last one (actually the last four of them ), but hopefully I can hold onto this one.

Pretty much because I always needed the money for something else and they were the easiest things to move. It was tough to sell the first one because it was always my goal to own one someday. When I first started buying postwar cards 12 years ago I never thought I'd own a '52 Topps Mantle and now at the old age of 29 I've owned 5 of them. I'd love to be able to keep one for the long haul, but if not I still consider myself fortunate for the opportunity to have owned one, let alone 5 of them.

Just got this back from SGC after picking it up on ebay a week ago. Been 2 years since I've been able to add a card to this set, they just don't come up very often with tabs. This gives me 4/8

I guess I'll have to wait until I get it in hand, but it looks way better than a PSA 5 based on the scan IMO...at least I hope so.

My youngest son, wife and I with Bruce Sutter last night. What a nice guy, took the time to sign all sorts of things, was very cordial, talked a lot about the 80's Cardinals.

I had him sign a couple cards, he signed a ball to my son

He showed my 8 year old nephew how to throw the legendary split finger fastball.

Picked up a Rizzuto from forum member cincyredlegs (thanks Mark) and a 1963 KTAV Koufax. Don't know much about the KTAV Koufax, so if anyone has any information on it that would be great.
