Default Wishful Thinking Hall of Fame

Just for laughs, I propose that we keep track of all the players we have seen that have been incorrectly identified as Hall of Fame players. My candidate for the inaugural class: Jake Bentley

There was a thread a while back that mentioned others--feel free to add them to this list or any others that you have seen.

I tracked down the previous thread, so thought I would list some of its candidates along with some other ones that I have noticed in the past:

Regular Wishful Thinking HOF'ers:

Hal Chase
Jimmy Dykes
Frank Crosetti
Charley Grimm
Red Rolfe

Inner Circle Elite:

Al Burch
Jack Bentley

Besides Hal Chase who is a perennial favorite, ive seen Russ Ford confused for Whitey Ford and George Gibson for Josh Gibson(no lie!)

there is also Heinie Wagner, confused for Honus. And the list would get insanely huge if went checked the modern cards for "future" HOFers. I remember a card show in the late 80s tauting signing guest and #1 overall draft pick that year, Willie Banks, as Future HOFer Willie Banks. LMAO!!! I ever told the show promoter what bithering idiot he made of himself with that claim. Needless to say, he said he would never let me set up at his show again. No loss, the show sucked anyway.

has been in the HOF since 1971!

When I was buying all my Moe Berg cards, one seller listed him on ebay as a HOFer...no way.

I'm scared. When I first clicked hte link, I did like Julie seems to have done and read Jake Beckley instead of JACK BENTLEY.

The post is actually for Jack Bentley, not Jake Beckley. Someone told the Ebay seller, the description has been revised.

I didn't help matters in my first post by calling Mr. Bentley 'Jake' instead of 'Jack'. I imagine the seller probably unintentionally made the same Beckley/Bentley connection.

I've seen several quotes that indicate Charles Bennett as a HOFer giving the Detroit Wolverines 4 total. Incorrect, only three HOFers (Brouthers, Thompson, and Hanlon).
