The sheets were printed one at a time. In the middle of the first print run of 1974 Topps, Ray Kroc unexpectedly bought the Padres to keep them in San Diego. Topps stopped printing the cards and changed all the cards from Washington to San Diego. The Padres on the sheets that Topps hadn't printed yet don't have Washington cards.

This is from an ad from The Traded Speaks from 1979 ( 1974 Topps Error Set (132). Does anyone know what this refers to ?

One sheet was printed with all the cards having the wrong backs. I bought one of those sets back in the 70s.

The whole Washington thing was brief enough that it didn't cover an entire press run. So they got some sheets done with the Washington change, but not others. When it didn't actually happen they went back to doing SD cards.

Which considering how precise Topps was, should mean there are pre-Washington SD cards, and post-Washington SD cards.
Just a lead for variation hunters.

Hi I saw on a variation list that there is a variation of the 1974 Munson card in regards to the New York print...has anyone seen one...or can post a pic?
