Anyone collect '50's Regionals?

Does anyone here collect '50's regionals? In my mind, this was the golden age for regional sets. Whether issued with cookies, meat, potato chips, tobacco, or even dog food, this era had some of the best cards made.
Some of my favorites, in no particular order

'58 Bell Brand- ugly design, but great player selection, a couple of scarce ones (Podres and Reese) and 2 tough ones (Snider and Cimoli)
'54 Red Heart- a really clean design on this 33 card set, and again a solid player selection. The blue and green series are fairly easy, as you could still get them mailed to you as late as the mid '70s, but the red series can be a bit trickier. For some reason I found Snider to be considerably more off center than the rest.
'54 Wilson Franks- tough set, and with those narrow borders it's tough to find them centered. Can you imagine what a Mantle would cost?
'54 Dan Dee- '54 has got to be the peak of the era, and this set is just another example. Couple of short prints keep it interesting.
'52-'55 Redman- great design for one of the last tobacco issues.


A vegetarian in the '50's would've had a hard time collecting- Hunters, Felins, Glendale, Rodeo,Wilson, Morrells, and even Red Hearts for Fido.
Sticking to potato chips? Dan Dees and Bell Brands How about Soda? Hires Rootbeer had both their test set and the real one, and Coke had the same.
Cookies? Drakes, Mothers and Johnstons in every box. You can't live on bread alone, but if you did you've got Remars. And Uncle Bubba is even covered with Red Man's.

Lately I thinking I'd like to type collect 50's regionals because they are so darn interesting. The Mantle and Aaron I've posted here recently (still, my vanity insists I repost) but the Red Man's never made it awhile back when we seemed to be posting them (tabbed are '52, w/o tab '53.)

I am about a 3rd of the way done with a 54' Red Heart set, with all the big ones (Mantle, Snider, Musial) out of the way. I have tried to add some Dan-Dee's and Wilson Franks but they seem to get pretty expensive, even for low-mid grade.

I'm a big fan of 50s regionals, although I avoid the pricier sets due to my limited budget. If I was a vegetarian in the 1950s, I guess I would have eaten alot of cookies. Here are a few of my favorite 50s "cookie" sets: 1952 Mother's, 1953 Mother's and 1955 Johnston's ...

1950s food issues seem to be synonymous with regional issues, but are there any national food issues?

It is my understanding that Wilson Franks was a national brand. My father got them in Santa Barbara.

As I understand it the cards were only obtainable through mail-in (unless you know anyone who pulled one out of a can of dog food!) Does anyone know if Red Heart was distributed nationally?

My favorite cards are the mid 1950s regional meat & wiener cards.
Briggs-Esskays-Glendales-Hunters-Felins-Rodeos-Stahl Meyers-I also include Wilsons here.
I have included a scan of an uncut sheet of 1955 Rodeo Wiener cards.
If anyone have any wiener cards for sale or trade please contact me. I also collect everything else under the sun.

Grif - Great thread! Thanks for all the scans guys.
I've recently started adding some NY American Journals to my collection. I love the fact that these things were basically weekly raffle tickets for cash; more or less a promotion to sell more newspapers.
And everyone knows what happens to raffle tickets after they expire...in the trash.
It's neat that these have survived.
