Default What Is This - 1910 Athletics Composite

This interesting piece was picked up from my buddy Barry Sloate. It's very glossy, measures 6 5/8" x 4 1/2" and appears to be thin photographic paper adhered to cardboard (the whole surface is photographic paper). The image clarity is spectacular - the scan doesn't do it justice. Any help in tracking down what this is would be appreciated.

Hey Matt- my consignor told me that there was another team known in the same format, and that he was going to forward me more information about their origin. But he never did.

They look so happy you never see everybody smiling like that, must have been taking shortly after they won or the photographer cracked a really funny joke. What a wonderful piece !!

Good observation. I never gave any thought to their festive mood.

Matt,
It's always nice to know who you are the underbidder to. No idea what it is but I like it. Best, Jeff

Here's the image used in a montage of what appears to be a magazine page:

Looks as if it's larger version of a cabinet card.

David - I thought it might be a trimmed cabinet card. I'd like to see a whole version if anyone has one or has seen one.

They definitely are pretty smiley in that photo, at least compared to this one, taken right after the team was informed that everyone but Ira Thomas' luggage was lost on the trip back to Philly from Chicago after the Series...
