Default Suggestion for our Moderator: Board Members' Ebay ID's

Posted By: Paul

I have a suggestion that I hope the rest of the Board members and our moderator will agree with. I think it would be very helpful to post a list of Members' ebay ID's. Many of us are much more comfortable bidding on the auction of a member we have dealt with than bidding on the auction of a stranger. Yet, we don't know everyone's ebay ID. For example, I just learned in another thread that Harry Wright is Barry Sloate. I will now look at Harry Wright's auctions with greater interest.

Participation in this list, of course, would be entirely voluntary. But I think it would be a great service to have a list correllating ebay IDs with Net54 IDs. Members also could voluntarily include their real names if they so choose.

Just a thought.

Leon could create a link with seller's real names and usernames. As it grows it could be a useful reference. Incidentally, mine is harrywright (one word).

I think this would be very useful for auctions where a seller doesn't accept paypal. I know it would make me feel a little more comfortable bidding on those auctions.

I would be happy to host and maintain such a list on my site -- based on how much Leon and the guys already do this might save them some time. A simple link from the links page here to the page on my site would make it easily accessible.

Thoughts?

I'ts very helpful to know other board members ebay id's. Of course this should be voluntary, but I think it would help the board as a whole.

t-206collector. That hyphen is very important! T206Collector (no hyphen) has a (-1) feedback rating. And I've been a member for 6 years, while that other clown (without the hyphen) has only been a "member" for a year and 10 months....

I sell under my shared ID (with my wife) "Baldisbetter". However, I had been using "Lovegun77" (my friend's) to purchase things and not have my wife kick me out on the front lawn.

I have now created a new buyer name "mr.E101" to complete my set. It has no feedback currently so please don't be scared off!

I do feel there are benefits to having everyone's full name and Ebay ID available. Perhaps re-structuring the "Collector's Websites" section under the Vintage Links page into more of a "Forum Contributor's" section listing Ebay ID, fullname, Website address etc...could be of use?

A second option could be to create a seperate section for "Ebay ID's" under the Forum FAQ's page. It would be pretty easy to list everyone's Ebay ID in a small table.

Any thoughts?

If everyone is okay with me hosting it I'll start compiling a list from this thread. Should have it up tonight or tomorrow.

I'll include eBay ID and a direct link to that seller's items. Should I include name, e-mail... anything else? Or is that information too personal?

Any other suggestions?

Chris

No apologies needed! We're just brainstorming right now and I appreciate any and all input. I also appreciate your offering to host such a list yourself. We'll see how this plays out and what everyone would like to do.
