Single owner collection of signed 1909-1913 M101-2 Sporting News Supplements, M113 & M114 Baseball Magazine Premiums and George Burke photographs up for auction. Highlights of this collection include signed photos by Babe Ruth, Grover Alexander, Walter Johnson, Mordecai Brown, John Evers, Cy Young, Joe Tinker, Honus Wagner, Ty Cobb, John Coombs, Roger Bresnahan, Ed Walsh, Eddie Collins, Nap Lajoie, Rogers Hornsby, Paul Waner, Fred C. Clarke, Tris Speaker, Jim Archer, Al Simmons, Chief Bender, Chief Meyers, Sam Crawford, Mickey Cochrane, Zach Wheat, Arky Vaughan, Frank "Home Run" Baker, Hal Chase, Harry Lord, Harry Davis just to name a few.
Dr. Clarence G. "Doc" Steen, began collecting baseball autographs in 1910 and he collected his entire life passing away in 1965. However, the majority of his collection was obtained between 1910 and the late 1940's. "Doc" Steen sent players photos to sign, most in the form of these premiums, storing them carefully and out of the light. After his passing these signed photos were placed in a safety deposit box where they remained for decades. As a result of this careful handling and storage the majority of his collection are signatures that rate 8-10 on a scale of 1-10.
