Default Stat buff books - Bill James, etc.

Posted By: steve

Are there any recent book publications directed to All Time Baseball Stats and Analysis?

I currently own Bill James Historical Baseball Abstract, publ. 1988 - it of course does not included players careers who played/overlapped after 1988.

I also have my Total Basball Encyclopedia, 2362 pages, 1993 edition.

Does Bill James have a newer version (recent players, reworked analysis, etc)? Do any other authors put out a good book for the baseball stat junkie?

Thanks, Steve.

Most of which has the same material as the first one; but there is plenty of new material in there as well.

He also did a "win Shares" historical book a couple of years ago

Bill James Historical Abstract 2001

It ranks the top 100 players all time, and the top 100 at each position. Its foundation is Win Shares, which has its own book detailing the methodology.
