Default More info than i wanted...........

Posted By: martindl

I went to an Estate sale this a.m. - was looking through a bunch of paper items and old photo's and struck up a conversation with an old feller next to me.

"Looking for anything in particular?" says he. "Sports stuff mainly and old tobacco cards" says I. "I just sold a group of those old small baseball cards last week, the tobacco kind - had about a hundred of them and got a great price" he goes on to tell me - "yep, I bought them for $30 and got $200 for them - Ty Cobb was in there but no Babe Ruth - I'd have kept the Ruth ones because I know they'd fetch a pretty penny. Some were white, some were gold and some were red ".

At that point i didn't want to know anything about condition, etc. I already had much more info than i wanted........

That's grounds for letting the air out his tires since he let the air out of your sails.

I'm such a rube sometimes. I hadn't thought about him taking me for a ride. I guess i took it hook, line and sinker.

I feel better now. Thanks for the wake up call.

He said he made an offer of $30 for a hundred tobacco cards. That's thirty cents each, including a Cobb. And then he was just as stupid and sold them for $200 giving them away too. Why would either of these transactions ever have taken place? Possible but unlikely.

Plus he saved the Ruth cards? Dont you think if he knows about Ruth's Value he would also know about Cobb's value
