Default Rare OJ?

Posted By: Pete Z.

Any thoughts if this 1887 OJ of A. Dolrynicle (sic!, s/b Dalrymple) is new to the hobby?

Thanks in advance,
Pete

David Levin found one of these in the Old Judge Oregon find in 2004. Dolrynicle, L.F., Pittsburghs. (Dalrymple) Here is that image:

Thanks. How much do you think this card would fetch on ebay? A range is fine. Here's the back:

Default Rare OJ?

Hello, glad to see your card.

That particular pose (pose #3) was issued in three consecutive years by Goodwin & Company, 1887 - 1889, as shown below. The mis-spelling is found on the 1888 example. And unless the Cartophilic listing needs updating, it appears all of the 1888 examples are mis-spelled just like your example. I will say however, that the 1888 version is likely the most difficult of the 3 years.

Tough to say what it would bring in auction. It could go under the radar for a ~$100 - $200 or a couple might bid it way up like we sometimes see when a no name variation comes up for sale/auction. Regardless, nice card.

Best Regards,
Joe Gonsowski

1.This may be a mislabeled Joe Miller;
2.Same photo as the listed O'Day with different OJ labeling.

*Feel free to post these variations.
