Default 50,000 dollar removed from auction

I have said this for the last seven years. Psa and Jsa no nothing about Babe Ruth or almost anything else. Take a look at all the Ruth balls and tell me if you think they are authentic.

I'm shocked they listened and pulled it when other auctions would not pull balls.

I'm not. Leland's doesn't mess around when it comes to stuff like this.

Lelands is top-notch. Would that every auction house were as proactive and diligent about these things. Most others would have said "It has the certs" and kept the item up for bids.

Lelands did the right thing. I commend them for this one.
PSA and JSA obviously did not do the right thing and will continue not doing the right thing on these types of signatures.

Consider this, from the Leigh Montville book, "The Big Bam";

"One night he stayed in his room at the hotel to read. A knock on the door. The Babe and Artie had someplace to go. Alas, the Babe had promised to sign 250 baseballs for some charity, but he now didn't have the time. Could Marshall sign them? He went to the babe's room and signed the Babe's name 250 times, leaving the balls on the bed. The Babe was grateful, especially because Hunt had become quite proficient at copying his name, but in the morning he had seconf thoughts. What kind of havoc could someone wreak if he were a good forger?"

I guess we now know the havoc. I'd have serious doubts with any Ruth signed balls.

Most people who are not in the market for a Ruth ball feel the same way; however, if you ARE in the market, it's possible to find balls that you do not have to have "serious doubts" about. But it takes educating yourself.
