Never got to see him play, but as a Mets fan his broadcasting was a big part of my life. He always seemed like a very classy guy who really loved the game. Rest in Peace Ralph!

I was always a big Babe Ruth fan as a kid and would look up how often he would homer per at bat. Second to Ruth was this guy named Kiner. Only played 10 season and hit 369 home runs! Led the league in homers 7 out of his 10 seasons! Amazing! RIP Ralph

Very sad day.

Although I grew up as a Yankees fan in the early 1960's, I still watched the Mets and always looked forward to Kiner's Korner. The guests would still be in their uniforms.

Mr. Kiner will be missed.

RIP, Mr. Kiner. I remember him as a willing signer. Back in the '80s, he would ask that you just donate $1 for each autograph and he would pass that on to his charity (I forgot which charity it was). Generous guy compared to some other HOFers, and he only leveraged his popularity for charity. Great guy.

I once read an interview with him where he was stated that the only modern player to seriously discuss his hitting with him was George Foster. That really surprised me considering what he accomplished.

Baseball Hall of Famer and fellow Alhambra High Moor Ralph Kiner was a true gentleman and always a pleasure to talk to. He will be truly missed. R.I.P. Ralph.

Since this is the autograph section of the Net 54, I thought I'd share a couple of interesting Ralph Kiner checks from my collection.

First, a check in the amount of $1,062 and change which I found interesting because when he wrote the amount of the check in words, he wrote "Ten hundred..." instead of "One thousand..."




Here's what has got to be one of the greatest Ralph Kiner checks ever written - it has not one, but FOUR signatures. It's signed "Ralph M. Kiner" twice on the front (as payee and signatory) and twice on the back (in the endorsement: "To be deposited in the account of Ralph M. Kiner Putnam Trust Co Ralph M. Kiner").
