Default T205 SGC Collectors Magazine

I read a post today that SGC published a magazine that went into depth about T205's (didn't specify how recent the issue was) and was wondering how I would go about getting a copy of it? Looked at SGC's website and there was no information about ordering back issues.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I think I may have that issue as well....must have been a freebie as I've never used SGC's services so I'm not sure how I ended up getting one.

As a public service to y'all I have posted quick'n'dirty scans of the T205 article on my ImageEvent picture site. (It was either that or do my house chores). They are appended to my NY Giants T205 subset album. Once you click on the thumbnail you can increase the size of the image for better legibility and better printing if desired by clicking "Original" at the bottom of the page.

BTW the last issue of SGC Collector I received was the Spring 2008 issue (the one with the Mutoscope girlie on the cover) even though I paid them $20 for a subscription at the Chicago National. Has anybody been receiving current issues. I suppose I should take this up with SGC directly but I thought I'd ask here while we're on the subject.

Now that I see the cover I'm pretty sure Mastro packaged this magazine with their catalog when they auctioned off Lionel Carter's collection.

Last Summer, I accepted their offer of a "free", sample issue. The issue they sent was from Spring of 2006, two years old. OK, it was free. I decided it looked OK and would subscribe. Paid my (I think) $20 and since then have gotten exactly one issue, Winter 2008.

I had forgotten completely until you mentioned it.

Thanks. Now I have something else to complain about today.

Default SGC Collector

Hi Guys,

I just wanted to jump in here and let everyone know the current issue of the SGC Collector is at the printer as we speak and should be shipping within a week or two. The last magazine that was released was the Winter 2008 issue on the Peggy Popcorn find. We've decided to go from quarterly to three times a year but will be beefing up the content so that you'll receive a larger magazine than before. This issue, in my opinion, is one of the best and features contributions from many board members. I don't think anyone will be disappointed!

David and Jim--I have both of you on the subscriber list so you should be all set.

Thanks,

Brian Dwyer

Rob, very interesting use of italics there. Normally when I see such a sarcastic use of it on the board I suspect insanity or rage is involved.

LOL. Yeah, but he never posts. And when I switched mine for a while, the guy who shared my "new" avatar, never complained, so as Leon says, "It's all good."

The article was written by a former member on the Net54 boards (you still lurking out there?) and tehre were actually a couple more sections of the article not published - concerning Ink colors for the names on the front of the Graham and Shean Cubs/Rustlers cards, I will see if i can find those acrhived somewhere.

Great article, and really the best thing for T205 collectors since that trader Speaks almost 30 years ago by Bill Heitman... there's not much out there for T205 collectors, it's a shame

Okay...my "grr" is bigger now....

That article, although very good, used a ton of information that I gathered and collected over nearly a decade. I was asked to preview the article and give suggestions, which I did...I was not credited with anything and it was published without my knowledge until I got one in the mail from SGC. These things usually do not bother me but lately I have heard many people say that was the best t205 article written...great, thanks, I will take that compliment. A few things were off in the article (just a couple of the percentages) and a few updates need to be added as well. As to the two different print colors on the Graham card it is not a variation...it occurs on all versions of that particular card with that particular advertising (just as all Cycle Matty's come with the statistical error). As to the author, I have not seen or heard from him in some time nor seen him post in awhile.

Anyway...I vented...back to the T205 love...

Joshua

Does anyone have a scan of this article? The link in the thread is not good anymore. I'm new to T205's so this would be helpful. Thanks!

I did some re-arranging on my ImageEvent site and also changed the password on account of various dipshits were causing me trouble. Following is a new link to my T205 page with the SGC article; I've removed the need for a password. http://tinyurl.com/4d3lmt4
