I especially like the part in his John wooden business card listing where he says "These autographs to me are real." I personally think that 300.00 for a signed Wooden business card is crazy, but at least he thinks it is real.

Default Some have taken the bait

Seller has sold a babe Ruth SS BBall for under $5500 (one of the 4 positive feedback he's received

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Babe-Ruth-Au...B#ht_76wt_1355

Or it could be a shill, but he is out a few $100's in eBay fees.

Sadly, all it takes is one buyer....

There is no link to the alleged buyer of that ball. It could have been a well coordinated fake transaction, with a $3 best offer, just to show a big, but fake, sale.

A sort by price shows it to be above $599.99. Buyer is also new (only 15 feedback) which suggests a true novice "hitting it big" on ebay, or a shill.

There are so many things wrong with this scenario: a rookie buying expensive items.... eBay allowing a new seller with no history list a $5500.00 item in a high risk category...... A seller who tries to sell high value items with no credible authentication and a willing buyer....

The seller did not leave feedback for the buyer on the Ruth ball.
Guy spends $5K (?) and you don't leave feedback?

Default Ebay Seller Bestinsportscollectibles

This Ebay seller knows exactly the crap he is selling.

The below is part of all his auction descriptions:

"EMAIL ME ANY QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE AND I WILL TRY TO ANSWER THE BEST I CAN, BUT MALICIOUS OR OBNOXIOUS EMAILS WILL BE REPORTED STRAIGHT TO EBAY."

His "Roger Maris" crap.

That Ruth ball was sold for $1500 and traveled from Oklahoma to Great Britain.

At some point, eBay's behavior just chafes me

I have bid on autos from respectable sellers ("authentictradingpost", Jeff Potter) on eBay

Before I can submit a bid, a flag comes up to ask me to read and acknowledge the eBay policy on autographs

If I did not know better, I would take it as a "sense of security" that they are indeed doing something to protect the buyer

And then I see this seller is still on

A bit hypocritical is it not?

This goes to ay ebay seller who wishes to answer: Is there any kind of screening, agreement or acknowledgment required in order to sell an autographed item?

Ebay gave up on policing autographs a long time ago.
They used to "care" somewhat but no longer.
There is no effort made to police the site at all.
They used to have a team of volunteers who were policing the site. The cost to ebay for that team was ZERO dollars.
That team was disbanded by ebay and no effort is made now.
Several members of this board, including myself, were members of the team.
Now they only care about more commissions.
